The D22 Standard

At D22 Academy, development is intentional. We operate through two primary divisions — Skill Development Training and Competitive Club Teams — both built on the same disciplined system and championship standard. Skill Development Training focuses on position mastery, footwork, shooting mechanics, basketball IQ, and competitive decision-making. Sessions are structured, demanding, and designed for measurable growth.Club Basketball Teams compete at the Elementary, Middle School, and High School levels. Our teams are built on accountability, leadership, and long-term athlete development — not short-term exposure. Every athlete, whether training individually or competing on a team, is developed under one standard.

Leadership & Experience

D22 Academy is led by Derrick Johnson, a coach with 14 years of experience across club, high school, and collegiate basketball.A former Division I and professional overseas recruit, he understands the complete athlete development pathway — from foundational skill training to next-level competition.
He currently serves as Head Varsity Coach at Scottsdale Christian and Assistant Coach at Chandler Gilbert Community College, while operating as Owner, Head Coach, and Lead Trainer of D22 Academy.His approach to development is built on discipline, accountability, and long-term growth. Basketball is the vehicle God gave him to develop skill, build character, and lead young women with purpose. The mission extends beyond performance — it is about preparing disciplined, confident athletes for the next level of competition and for life.

Placement is based on evaluation and program fit.We intentionally keep training groups small to maintain elite standards and maximize individual development. Evaluations are required before joining.
